#41 Hartford Connecticut

September 3, 2022

After I visited the Boston temple, I went back to Hartford and spent the next morning at this temple.

The Hartford temple is one of the few on only one level.  From Baptisms to Sealings, they are all on the same level.

The telestial room was really beautiful and had a painted mural.  It looked like on one side it was a river.  The seats in both the terestrial and tellestial rooms looked like solid old benches from the back, but had individual seats in them.  They were cool looking.  Ive only see them once before.  I can't remeber which temple, maybe Mesa? The Celestail room had one of the most beautiful chandeliers.  It was huge, all crystal.  Even the arms that curved to hold the lights were crystal.  It had lots of dangling crystals, and was just stunning.  The architecture of this temple felt very colonial.  Kind of surprised that Boston wasn't colonial like this, but I guess they saved it up for here.  It had.

The tile in the font was really beautiful.  It reminded me of Gilbert, but not quite as nice.  It had the small 1" tiles and they did the stairs a different color than the bottom or the sides, and they had a mosaic pattern on the bottom.  The oxen were interesting too, they painted them in a marble pattern.  I'm guessing to go with the Carrera marble that is throughout the temple.

Some of the interior design wasn't to my taste, very colonial.  Small stiff chairs in the sealing rooms.  The gold and cream floral carpet in the ceiling room was too gaudy.  Because this was only on 1 level, the sealing rooms did have high ceilings, probably 15 feel.  So the sealing rooms did feel pretty grand.

The intialtory rooms do have trim work around them that makes them feel nicer than normal.  I would give this temple an A-.

I was able to do 1 Endowment, 7 sealings, 30 baptisms and 4 intiatories.
