#37 Dallas Texas

 April 5, 2022

On my trip to Austin, I took advantage to stop at the Dallas temple today and then Houston tomorrow.  The Dallas temple has a unique style with a lot of spires.  It's very interesting and beautiful outside.  It's interesting that the water feature at the front of the temple is not actually the entrance, as that's at the back of the temple.  The temple has all of the ordinances on 1 level.  When you walk in, there is a very large seating area in the front of the temple, with entrances on all 3 sides of the foyer. Once you walk past the recommend desk, there is a skylight that surrounds one of the spires that you can look up and see.  Overall the construction in this temple isn't the most fancy.  It's very interesting that all ordinance areas of the temple aren't very fancy, except 1 sealing room and the celestial room.  There is a drastic difference in these rooms.

I started out with sealings and was only able to do 4 couples because there were so many other people there doing family names.  The sealing room that I was in was small and very simple.  I enjoyed how small the altar was, it was probably almost half the area of all other temples I've been to.  They have a sealing room that I didn't do sealings in that is rather stunning.  It's got glass windows that you can look through from the inside of the temple to watch the sealing.  It's got  a huge dome ceiling with intricate floral and gold leafing and a large gorgeous chandelier.

After sealings, I was able to do 5 Intiatories. Then I did an endowment.  I wish Sam could have been there because the men's seats were right next to the women's, so we could have sat right next to each other.  The endowment room was pretty small, with only 42 seats total, and very simple.  There weren't even any chandeliers.  The video screen was only 4' wide.

The celestial room is very beautiful.  The most stunning thing is the chandelier.  It stands out in the smaller room and is about 8'wide and probably the same height too.  It really stood out and just felt like it was such a symbol of light coming down from heaven.

After I dd an endowment, I did baptisms.  I was rather early and no one else was there.  They were able to bring in an ordinance worker to perform the baptisms and I was able to get 20 done.
